16 little robot-scientists are going to attend the 25th IRO at Athens on January 14

16 best students selected from all over the country through Bangladesh Robot Olympiad are going to carry the flag of Bangladesh in the world stage of robotics talent exploration- the 25th International Robot Olympiad (IRO) which is going to be held in Athens, the capital city of Greece from January 16 to 20.

The participants in Bangladesh team are – William Carey Academy student Jaima Jahin Wara, Navy Anchorage School and College student Mahrooz Mohammad Ayman, Mastermind English Medium School student Nasheetat Zainah Rahman and Fatin Al Habib Nafis, Birshrestha Munsi Abdur Rauf Public College student Prapa Halder, South Point School and College student Marzia Afifa Prithibi, Vikarunnisa Noon School and College student Samia Mehnaz, Maisha Sobhan and Sadia Akhtar Swarna, Chittagong Cantonment Public College student Misbah Uddin Inan, Notre Dame College student Mashkur Malik Mostafa, Mirzapur Cadet College student Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury, Dhaka Residential Model College students An Nafiu and Rubaiyat H Rahman, Hardco International School students Namia Roujat Nubala and Khandkar Shamil Mahadi Bin Khalid.

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, in a press conference organized in the auditorium of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra, the little scientists were introduced and informed that they will leave for Athens, Greece on the night of January 14. International Robot Olympiad central committee member Professor Dr. Lafifa Jamal and Chief Robotics Coach of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad Mishal Islam will lead this 16-member robotics team.  

Prominent writer and educator Professor Dr. Muhammad Zafar Iqbal introduced the 16 students who were members of the Bangladesh team. Expressing hope that Bangladesh Robot Olympiad team will bring glory to the country this year as well, he said, our students will advance in all sectors besides robotics. They will further elevate the flag of Bangladesh on the world stage.

Chairperson of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Department of Dhaka University Dr. Senjuti Rahman and Managing Director of Computer Services Limited Mamluk Sabir Ahmad were present as special guests at the press conference. 

It should be noted that the Robot Olympiad is being organized in Bangladesh since 2018. The Bangladesh Robot Olympiad is organized by the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering of Dhaka University and Bangladesh Open Source Network under the sponsorship and inspiration of the Information and Communication Technology Department of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. Before this, the online selection phase of the Sixth Bangladesh Robot Olympiad was held on September 13-17, 2023 and the national phase of the Sixth Bangladesh Robot Olympiad was held on September 29-30, 2023. The Bangladesh team for the International Robot Olympiad is decided by analyzing the merit and performance of the students on various criteria in the three-day residential international team selection camp held with the winners of the national phase. The team selected for the International Robot Olympiad will represent Bangladesh in the 25th International Robot Olympiad in Athens, Greece.
